BIG NEWS! We're excited to announce that the long-awaited Geisel Library café, aptly named “Audrey’s” after UC San Diego benefactor, Audrey Seuss Geisel, will be completed this spring with a grand opening planned for the campus and community supporters in May. Located on the main floor in the East Wing of Geisel Library, Audrey's will serve coffee and tea from Cafe Virtuoso along with pastries and other breakfast items from San Diego’s Bread and Cie. In honor of , the Library has dedicated an exhibit to Jimmy Cheatham (1924-2007), the talented and passionate educator and composer who brought a strong jazz presence to our city when he came to lead the jazz program at UC San Diego. We invite you to visit Geisel Library’s 1st floor west wing to view his spectacular trombone and learn more about the local legend and his work.

We are also compiling a guest book with comments from those who knew or learned from Mr. Cheatham. If you’d like your comment to be included in this keepsake, leave a message in the comments box below and we’ll add it for you!
