Are you prepared for an earthquake? Living in Southern California means earthquakes can happen at any time, so it's crucial to have an emergency plan ready. It's easy to get complacent with frequent warnings, but being prepared can save lives. Here are some tips from SDG&E to help you respond quickly and keep your loved ones safe in case of a major earthquake.
One tip👇
Develop an evacuation plan. Create an evacuation plan that includes multiple escape routes and meeting places outside your home. Practice the plan with your family, including pets and livestock.

Today, we honor Juneteenth—a day that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and celebrates freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of justice.
At United Way of San Diego County, we recognize that building a stronger community means ensuring everyone has equitable access to opportunities that help them thrive. While we celebrate the progress made, we also acknowledge that the work toward equity is far from finished.
Every day, we remain committed to breaking down barriers to financial stability and creating pathways to opportunity for San Diego families to thrive, today and for generations to come. In the spirit of Juneteenth, we reaffirm our commitment to advancing equity and expanding opportunities so that everyone has the freedom and support to build the future they deserve.

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming Javier, a recent graduate of the University of California San Diego, to present his SparkPoint recommendations to our team. As a volunteer, Javier participated in SparkPoint meetings and site visits, gathering insights from partners to help strengthen the program’s impact across San Diego County.
“I’m so grateful for the opportunity to learn about the work United Way does and how it impacts people around San Diego. After 4 years in San Diego, having the opportunity to be part of something greater than myself while also learning and developing myself has been an amazing experience”.
Thank you, Javier, for your thoughtful contributions and dedication to our mission!

The t-shirt in the first photo says it all! These amazing San Diegans are VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) volunteers from our San Diego County (Earned Income Tax Credit) EITC Coalition.
Over the past 25 years, these IRS-certified volunteers have helped low- to moderate-income neighbors prep their taxes for free, returning millions in refunds to our community!
With 1 in 3 working San Diegans currently struggling to make ends meet, this free tax prep and these refunds are a lifeline. UWSD is deeply honored to lead this coalition, working alongside 50 organizations and hundreds of volunteers committed to making a difference.
