July Board Member Spotlight: Jeff Pace

"I have been a police officer for 38 years. I’ve worked a host of assignments but am most proud of being a team member of the restorative justice startup work that began in City Heights in 2013.

I live by the motto that “the restorative process begins when the handcuffs go on.” I became a certified mediator and introduced mediation as a conflict resolution tool in the officer complaint process. As a Christian, I believe in a God of second chance. I jumped at the opportunity of becoming a board member because I believe in the mission of RJMP."

Facilitator Spotlight: Joe Gaxiola.

Joe, with over 30 years of facilitation experience, has nurtured a great rapport with both facility staff and program participants as a part of the Reentry Prep Program. Joe’s background as an artist and art class facilitator shines through in his creative outlook and grounding presence in RJMP's group sessions. After completing the Restorative Justice Reentry Prep Program facilitator training, Joe supported the start of our Centinela programming and he is now our lead Facilitator for all Imperial Valley groups where he is training one of our newest facilitators, David Lopez, with the first Module 2 cohort at Centinela State Prison.
