We believe this event will be a great benefit for many in our community. At the January meeting, we intend to adopt a format and program for the event.

Law Day - April 28, 2018
The
Friends of the City Heights Library are sponsoring and organizing activities for Law Day weekend, April 28 2018. We plan to have several activities which highlight the role of our system of law and justice. We would especially like the participation of members of the legal profession who serve or live locally, in San Diego’s Mid-City. To date, our committee has had several meetings and has had the committee participation of five (5) local attorneys and begun to focus the event on Saturday, April 30, 2016, between 9 AM to 5 PM, at the City Heights Library complex. On Saturday evening we are arranging a Candidates Forum for City Attorney and a participants and supporters reception. We need sponsors, participants, and persons who want to help with the logistics and staging. The program should include:
5-6 Presentations or Panels on the subjects including: Law Occupations, Schooling, and Employment; Immigration Law; Family Law; Sports and Entertainment Law; Criminal Law and Police Practices; Fair; Housing and Employment; and Small Claims and Civil Law. This is an initial list based on participation by schools, local lawyers and sponsors. Development of a Budget and fees for program sponsorships and consultation participation outreach tables

Format and activities for post event Reception
Planning has just begun, so we are open to all ideas and suggestions, contributions, and even full participation on the organizing committee. Initial discussions concerning topics have included seminars and presentations on law practice areas like: Family Law, Refugee and Immigration Law, Housing Law, Small Claims, Criminal Law and Clearance of FTA Warrants, and any other subject. We hope to offer presentations on careers in Law and a job fair. Additionally, we would also like presentations by the area law and paralegal schools, concerning their programs. Lastly, a networking social get together for the local legal community and participants may be included. We are completely open and welcome your ideas and participation. We invite you to our second organizing meeting at 6:30 PM, Wednesday January 13th*, at the City Heights Branch Library, 3755 Fairmount Avenue, City Heights, CA 92105*. Please contact John Stump by phone at 619-281-4663 or by email: [email protected] with your thoughts or just come to the meeting. We would be pleased to accept contributions of legal materials or your sponsorship. Donations may be tax deductible. Please send us a reply email or letter, to confirm your email address and contact information, so we can keep you updated as plans progress. Please forward this information to others members who you think would be interested in advancing the legal profession and providing information to our community. Please calendar City Heights Law Day 2016 - April 29th - May 1, 2016

The great result, out of all this too old for President talk, is that soon the voting population will pickup on the truth that once you reach 75 very few people ever reach 85.
