San Francisco, CA - The Transgender District is proud to announce the first California statewide recognition of Transgender History Month this August 2024. This historic celebration honors the significant contributions and achievements of transgender individuals throughout history and celebrates their role as trailblazers in the ongoing fight for justice and equality.

Celebrated throughout the month of August in San Francisco, Transgender History Month is legally recognized in San Francisco Mayoral Proclamation since 2021. In 2023, California’s State Assembly officially declared August as Transgender History Month statewide. It is a month in which Transgender San Franciscans honor the rich history and contributions of transgender historymakers, pioneers, trailblazers, and affirms the ongoing presence of transgender people in San Francisco and around the world.
