Amplifying AAPI Representation in Entertainment & Media is a free, virtual event on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 from 9:30am-3:15pm PT. It features prominent AAPI creators, artists, industry leaders, elected officials, tech innovators, journalists and more. The theme of this Summit is that we are “for” the inclusion & accurate representation of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in entertainment and media, and "for" identifying & implementing solutions that dispel the negative stereotypes that are currently a staple of mainstream culture.
We aim to create conversations by sharing ideas, elevating awareness and creating a network of all interested parties that have the passion, skills and power to impact how entertainment and pop culture is made -- resulting in AAPIs being properly represented at an unprecedented scale.

Over the past decade, Asian Americans have formed tight-knit groups to champion one another. In the 25 years since, we have seen AAPI representation in Washington increase to include senators and representatives, the first Asian-American Vice President—however, Asian American white-collar professionals are the least likely group in the United States to be promoted into management.
This is why BAAPALS remains committed to building our pipeline to uplift and support legislative staffers and their career in public service.

May is Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month! Let's reflect and honor the history of AANHPI communities in addition to celebrating all of the AANHPI staffers that have dedicated their careers to public service.
"This May, during Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we recognize the history and achievements of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (AANHPIs) across our Nation. In the midst of a difficult year of pain and fear, we reflect on the tradition of leadership, resilience, and courage shown by AANHPI communities, and recommit to the struggle for AANHPI equity."

We have a powerful lineup of panelists participating in the panel titled “A Pivotal Moment for Asian and Black Communities: A Dialogue About Racism and Solidarity.” As we continue to stand up against racial injustice and address the systemic inequity impacting our community, I hope you’ll join us for this important event.
