Film: Blinded by the Light

This ode to the music of Bruce Springsteen is set in 1987 England. Javed, a British teen of Pakistani descent, writes poetry as a means to escape the intolerance of his hometown and the inflexibility of his traditional father. When introduced to the music of “the Boss,” Javed sees parallels to his working-class life in Springsteen’s lyrics and finds the courage to express himself in his own unique voice.

Save the date for Park Branch's annual Open House: Saturday, October 19th , 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
At 10 a.m., we'll have the Big Play Date in our program room with toys and activities for children up to age 5. Please note, there will be no Baby Rhyme Time on this day.
Also at 10 a.m., the Museum of Craft and Design will host drop-in crafts in our courtyard.
At 2 p.m., jazz duo Six Roses will perform in the courtyard, followed immediately by coffee and refreshments in the main reading room.
