After 15 years with the San Francisco Estuary Partnership, and 10 of those years as our Director, Caitlin Sweeney is retiring. As she completes the last couple of weeks of her tenure, we want to acknowledge her contributions in expanding regional partnerships and redefining environmental projects to interconnect with transportation systems, shoreline infrastructure, and community resilience.
We are now seeking a new Director. This position offers a rare opportunity to lead a regional program with a federal mandate to increase the health and resilience of the San Francisco Estuary and its surrounding communities. Applications received by June 10, 2026, will gain priority consideration. For more details, visit:https://www.sfestuary.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/SFEP-Director-Position-Announcement.pdf

This April, we joined SF Climate Week for our sophomore year and had an amazing turnout of nearly 500 attendees across three days!
We partnered with several regional governmental agencies to host the Bay Area’s Climate Action Playbook series. This series invited participants to join a walking tour (which was sadly canceled due to weather), an energy innovation expo, and several presentations that discussed how our regional governmental agencies are advancing climate resilience through cross-jurisdiction collaboration, financing alternatives, and nature-based solutions. For a quick look at what you missed, stop by the ABAG website: https://abag.ca.gov/news/mtc-sfep-barc-share-their-climate-action-playbook-years-sf-climate-week.
Big thanks to our partners: Metropolitan Transportation Commission, the Bay Conservation & Development Commission (BCDC), Bay Area Regional Energy Network and the Bay Area Air District. We also appreciated all of the support from the Bay Area Metro Center's business operations and events teams!
