Busy SAR week for ASSF!

Last night, Friday 15 November (under the last super moon of 2024), the duty crew responded to a report of a grounded fishing vessel in San Pablo Bay. The fisherman tried to make their own way back to safety through the squelching mud but eventually needed help. CGR 6567 arrived onscene and hoisted all 3 fishermen, bringing them (and a bunch of mud) home safely to Napa Airport.

Looks like AST3 Max Gardiner has become a SAR lightning rod this week!!

Congrats to LCDR Molly Smith, LT Anika Stark, and AMT3 Jack Sollauer for their first lives saved! Bravo Zulu, guys and gals!

In August, our crew paddled out for a very cool opportunity to work with A Walk on Water to “harness the ocean’s transformative powers…deliver[ing] life-changing surf therapy to children with unique needs and their families.”

Thank you, , for allowing us to join the surf with you! As you can see, our crew loved it!!

Today, on 28 August 2024, we had the honor of celebrating the life of LCDR Daniel J. Kearney Jr., CG Aviator #4282, during a ceremony in the hangar.

Today we remember who he was to us: an MH65 Dolphin pilot, Coast Guard officer, mentor, friend, lifesaver, son, father, and husband.

Today we celebrate his greatest legacy: the life he made with his wife and best friend, CDR Caroline Kearney, and their two sons.

He lived an admirable and immensely-full life, cherishing the small moments with his family, and seeking adventure in every opportunity the world had to offer.

Thank you, EO, for allowing us space to cherish him today as you do.

His memory will shine on at Air Station San Francisco as steady and unwavering as a beacon in the dark and stormy sea. Rest easy, LCDR—we have the watch.
