Thank you California Department of Developmental Services and West Ed for inviting us to present at the 2026 Early Start Partners Symposium. It's always wonderful to connect with, share, and learn from our regional center, family resource centers, and early start program collaborative partners.

Happy White Cane Day! White Cane Safety Day is a national observance in the United States, celebrated annually on October 15 since 1964. The date is set aside to celebrate the achievements of people who are blind or visually impaired and the important symbol of blindness and tool of independence, the white cane.

Yesterday CDBS staff member, Julie Maier, celebrated a day early at CSB Fremont
What a festive event as the CSB students and staff and families in bright pink shirts completed an annual celebratory walk-a-thon. There were other blind and low vision community members visiting and cheering on these independent walkers and staffing vendor tables. It was also a chance for sweet reunions with kids and young adults and families that CDBS has known for many years.
