Happy Juneteenth! Was wonderful to spend time at the SF African American Chamber of Commerce’s Juneteenth Jam & the Juneteenth Parade’s Waterfront Celebration, and to celebrate Black history, culture and resilience. Given this moment in our country, it’s important we take time to remember the progress we’ve made & the work that still needs to be done.

So honored to meet with , to discuss our office’s work with to fight for gun safety. She epitomizes courage, turning personal tragedy into purpose. Had the chance to view our City Hall bronze busts of former Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk, who forever remind us of the impact of gun violence. Our work continues.

Nonprofits sound alarm as California program created to tackle Anti-Asian hate to run out of money 06/15/2026

After President Trump referred to COVID-19 as the "Chinese virus" and "kung flu," we saw a dramatic spike in anti-Asian hate incidents. As Chair of the California API Legislative Caucus, I helped pass a $166M budget allocation, the country’s largest investment to combat race-motivated hate. Today the need is still very real, particularly in light of the federal administration's attacks on immigrants and diverse communities. I hope this important work continues.

Nonprofits sound alarm as California program created to tackle Anti-Asian hate to run out of money A state funding program created in response to the rise in anti-Asian hate crimes during the pandemic is set to expire on June 30, with no plan yet for California to renew the funds.

San Francisco sues Department of Energy over new standards for grant funding 06/09/2026

My Office sued the U.S. Department of Energy over their illegal terms and conditions for grant funding. They are attempting to force grant recipients to implement their anti-equity agenda or lose access to all DOE grants, including funding that helps combat climate change. My Office will keep fighting these moves by the Federal Administration to force their policy preferences on SF.

San Francisco sues Department of Energy over new standards for grant funding The City of San Francisco on Friday filed a lawsuit against the Department of Energy over changes to emissions standards, which could cost the city over $130,000 in federal funding for clean energy.

A victory for renewable energy! Last year we filed a lawsuit challenging the IRS rules that would have unfairly and illegally discriminated against wind and solar projects. Over the weekend, a federal court struck those rules down. This decision puts an important check on the Federal Administration’s actions and will help allow clean energy providers to build projects that benefit us all. 🌱

At my college alumni weekend, I joined Congressman Jamie Raskin (who led Trump’s 2nd impeachment after the January 6th insurrection) in speaking to Harvard graduates who are standing up for democracy. I’m proud that thousands of Harvard alumni across the decades overwhelmingly support our university’s decision to defend academic freedom and resist the unconstitutional overreach by the federal administration. Thanks to CrimsonGoesBlue, , and others for your advocacy.

My Office filed a lawsuit today against a Tenderloin landlord for creating a public nuisance and allowing tenants to live in a fire-damaged building without power or other utilities for months.

Huge thank you to and who all came together to provide emergency services and support these tenants.
