SF Board of Education to Vote on Amending Graduation Requirements in Defiance of Current State Law
WHAT: With a vote about suspending the CAHSEE as a graduation requirement working its way through the state legislature, the San Francisco Board of Education is holding a special meeting today to decide on whether or not to amend SFUSD's graduation requirements, a decision that would immediately grant diplomas to 107 students.
WHEN: Friday, August 14 / 5:30 p.m.
WHERE: Irving G. Breyer Board Room / 555 Franklin St.
WHO: Board of Education Commissioners
SFUSD Superintendent Richard A. Carranza
Students
WHY: The Board is holding an emergency session to possibly grant diplomas to several dozen students who were admitted to four year colleges and hope to begin matriculating this fall. If the emergency resolution is passed, SFUSD may issue diplomas to all students in the class of 2015 who received a Certificate of Completion instead of a diploma solely because they had not passed both sections of the CAHSEE; but who otherwise completed all SFUSD credit and course requirements in compliance with Board policy.
AUDIO/VISUAL: Special meeting of the SF Board of Education.
