SF Connected offers free digital literacy classes in English, Spanish, Chinese, Russian, and Vietnamese to older adults and adults with disabilities.
SF Connected seeks to increase broadband adoption by teaching computer and internet skills and demonstrating the value of broadband based technologies, such as social media and video communication. The program focuses on the City's seniors and adults with disabilities because they can most benefit from expanded access. Available only in the U.S. (for now), the feature relies on users to answer questions about the accessibility of a place they visit. "Wheelchair accessible entrance" will now be noted in a location's "Amenities" section wherever Google is made aware of the accessibility. Though it will take some time for the data set to grow, the impact of this information will positively impact the lives of millions.
