Happy Pride Month!

Pride is a celebration of identity, resilience, and community. It is also a reminder that everyone deserves safety, dignity, and a place to call home.

At the San Francisco Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing, we are committed to supporting a homelessness response system that helps connect people experiencing homelessness with shelter, housing, and services. Throughout Pride Month, we'll be highlighting programs and partners that provide affirming support and pathways to stability for LGBTQ+ community members in San Francisco.

Together, we can help build a city where everyone can thrive.

What does supportive housing mean to the young people who call Casa Colibrí home?

In a recent article from The Ingleside Light, residents shared how Casa Colibrí has provided safety, support, and opportunities to build toward the future.

Located in San Francisco's Outer Mission, Casa Colibrí serves transition-age youth and is operated through a partnership between Mission Action, Larkin Street Youth Services, and HSH.

Read the story and hear directly from residents, staff, and community leaders about the impact of this important housing program.

Recently, the San Francisco Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing released the Home by the Bay: Family Addendum, a community-informed supplement to the Home by the Bay strategic plan focused on preventing and ending family homelessness in San Francisco.

The report was developed in collaboration with families with lived experience, family-serving organizations, community advocates, and public agencies. It outlines six strategic priorities focused on improving access to services, strengthening cross-system coordination, expanding housing opportunities, supporting long-term family stability, and increasing homelessness prevention resources.

Families represent 13% of households and 29% of people experiencing homelessness in San Francisco, highlighting the importance of targeted, family-centered strategies.

Residents at Jerrold Commons recently came together for a joyful Garden Day filled with music, refreshments, and community.

Clients selected flowers, planted them in small clay pots, and created something personal to brighten their rooms and living spaces.

Designed specifically for older adults experiencing homelessness, Jerrold Commons provides more than housing. Events like these help foster connection, wellness, and a sense of belonging.

Last week, we celebrated the opening of Casa Colibri, a new permanent supportive housing program for transition-age youth ages 18–24 in San Francisco.

Operated in partnership with Mission Action and Larkin Street Youth Services, Casa Colibri provides housing, community, and supportive services for young people who have experienced homelessness. Residents will have access to on-site clinical and case management services, along with support related to health, employment, financial stability, and more.

Thank you to our partners and community members who joined us to celebrate this important milestone and investment in youth housing.

At yesterday’s Homelessness Oversight Commission meeting, we recognized Tina Brown, Jessica Camilli, and Danita Ferguson of the Housing Access Team (HAT) as our May 2026 LimeLight Honorees.

The HAT team plays a vital role in helping clients navigate complex housing systems with compassion, coordination, and care. Their work centers equity, strengthens provider partnerships, and supports long-term housing stability for people facing some of the greatest barriers to housing.

Together, they combine thoughtful problem-solving, strong collaboration, and a client-centered approach to help move people from crisis to permanent housing while improving outcomes across the system.

We’re grateful for their leadership and proud to recognize their contributions.
