As a proud SFUSD graduate, I am running for the Board of Education to ensure every student receives the same strong educational foundation that helped me succeed. My focus is on guaranteeing families a predictable place in well-supported neighborhood schools, improving early literacy, and bringing strict financial accountability to our district.

I’m not running for School Board to start serving our schools. I’m running to continue the work I’ve been doing for years. 🌉

As the son of an undocumented immigrant, SFUSD was my second home. Our public schools gave me the tools to succeed, which is why I’ve dedicated my time to giving back—from the Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee to volunteering weekly in local classrooms.

Now, I’m running for the Board of Education this November to ensure every single student across San Francisco gets those exact same opportunities. Let’s get to work! 📚

Honored to celebrate the Asian Pacific American Community Center (APACC) at its 27th Anniversary Gala last week at The Westin St. Francis. I’ve been a proud supporter of this incredible nonprofit for years, and I am always inspired by the vital work they do to uplift our youth, seniors, and families. It was great catching up with Executive Director Rex Tabora, Beth Schnitzer, Chief Derrick Lew, Rodney Fong, Jessica Ho, Steven Lee, and so many other friends who care deeply about our community. The conversations have been incredible—families are connecting with my SFUSD story and they are ready for a Board that prioritizes early literacy, real accountability, and a lifelong commitment to our students.

One of the highlights of my week is volunteering in a Kindergarten literacy classroom at Drew Elementary in Bayview. Working directly with students reminds me exactly what is at stake in this election. Every student deserves the opportunity to read at grade level, and our teachers deserve a district that gives them the tools to make that happen. Let's have strong schools all over the city, and let's put our students first! 📖

I didn’t always have a voice.

Growing up as the son of an undocumented immigrant in SF public schools, I struggled as a child with a speech impediment and learning differences we didn’t yet understand. But my teachers saw strengths in me before I saw them in myself. They helped me find my voice, build confidence, and eventually make my way to Harvard.

Now, I’m running for the San Francisco Board of Education to make sure every single student is heard and given the same life-changing opportunities our public schools gave me.

We need to bring accountability, experience, and a relentless focus on students back to SFUSD.

Success looks different for every student, but our district’s responsibility remains the same: preparation. Whether a student is heading to a four-year university, entering the trades, or jumping straight into a career, they need a robust educational foundation. I’m in classrooms and schools now working with students in every single grade. I will fight for a district that prepares every student for their unique future. As an SFUSD graduate, I am running to help every child get the same chance. Vote Laurance Lee for Board of Education this November.

Everything starts with reading. 📖

As a weekly Kindergarten literacy volunteer at Drew Elementary, I see firsthand how critical early intervention is. If a student falls behind in reading in the early grades, the system is failing them.

As a proud SFUSD grad, my teachers helped me overcome a speech impediment and gave me the tools I needed to succeed. I want to guarantee that same support for every student today. That’s why “More Reading” and strong academic foundations are at the very top of my priority list for the Board of Education.

Let’s get back to the basics! You have 3 votes for School Board this November—I’d be honored to earn one of them to fight for our students. 🗳️🎒
