A eleição reconhece o trabalho da diplomacia portuguesa e a confiança da comunidade internacional no papel de Portugal como promotor do diálogo, da paz e da cooperação entre os povos.
Pela quarta vez na sua história, Portugal terá assento no órgão das Nações Unidas responsável pela manutenção da paz e da segurança internacionais, assumindo uma voz ativa na resposta aos desafios globais do nosso tempo.

Portugal’s startup ecosystem was very well represented at Plug and Play Tech Center Global Startup Showcase by .ai and , with Vericasa being distinguished as one of the best pitches of the session - a good indicator of the growing quality and international outlook of Portuguese founders.

It was also great to see Startup Portugal’s President, Alex Santos, on a panel on “US Expansion: Investor Reality vs. Founder Expectations”, discussing the opportunities and challenges faced by startups scaling into the American market.

The third consular visit of 2026 in San José will take place on July 6, 2026, at the premises of POSSO, with service hours from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Great to meet some of the members of the Portuguese delegation at last month’s Startup Grind Global Conference, held in Redwood City, at the heart of Silicon Valley’s innovation ecosystem.

Led by Unicorn Factory Lisboa, a dynamic group of Portuguese startups showcased some of the very best Portugal’s innovation ecosystem has to offer.

The Startup Grind Global Conference continues to grow in scale and relevance, now bringing together over 5,000–6,000 founders, investors, and operators from more than 100 countries.

The engagement we saw is yet another step in reinforcing Portugal’s growing footprint in California’s innovation landscape.

🇵🇹🇧🇷O Consulado-Geral de Portugal em São Francisco celebrou esta terça-feira o Dia Mundial da Língua Portuguesa, em parceria com o Consulado-Geral do Brasil em São Francisco, Coordenação do Ensino de Português nos EUA. e o Instituto Guimarães Rosa, uma sessão-debate subordinada ao tema “Português 2.0: Lusofonia na Era da Tecnologia”.

Num momento de profunda transformação tecnológica, refletimos sobre o futuro da língua portuguesa: os desafios colocados à diversidade linguística, o risco de concentração em modelos dominados pelo inglês e a necessidade de afirmar o português como língua de utilização, língua de desenvolvimento, treino e produção de conhecimento no universo da inteligência artificial.

A conversa contou com a participação de Joana Carrasqueira (Google DeepMind), Roberto Frossard (Itaú Unibanco) e do escritor Valério Romão.

Uma reflexão particularmente pertinente em São Francisco, cidade onde se está a desenhar uma parte significativa do futuro tecnológico do mundo.

🇺🇸On Tuesday, the Consulate General of Portugal in San Francisco celebrated World Portuguese Language Day, in partnership with the Consulado Geral do Brasil em São Francisco, Camões, I.P., and the Guimarães Rosa Institute, through a discussion session entitled “Portuguese 2.0: Lusophony in the Age of Technology.”

At a time of profound technological transformation, we reflected on the future of the Portuguese language: the challenges facing linguistic diversity, the risks associated with the concentration of models dominated by English, and the need to affirm Portuguese as a language of use, development, training, and knowledge production in the field of artificial intelligence.

The discussion featured Joana Carrasqueira, Roberto Frossard, and writer Valério Romão.

A particularly timely reflection in San Francisco — a city where a significant part of the world’s technological future is being shaped.
