JAS Games wrapped up with a 3-on-3 basketball tournament! 🏀

The SF Probation team, representing Adult and Juvenile Probation, battled all the way to the semifinals, falling to Alameda County Probation in triple overtime.

Great competition, great energy, and even better camaraderie with probation departments from across the Bay Area and beyond.

Big thanks to Alameda County Probation for hosting another great JAS Games! 🙌

Reentry is more than returning to the community. Addressing trauma, mental health, and access to care can be an important part of supporting long-term success.

The Mental Health, Trauma, and Healing During Reentry panel at the 14th Annual Reentry Conference & Expo will bring together professionals from behavioral health, reentry, probation, and community-based organizations to discuss trauma, barriers to care, peer support, and approaches that promote healing and stability.

We’re proud to have Melanie Kushner, LCSW, APD Pretrial Division Director, joining the conversation.

These principles will also be central to APD’s new Pretrial Division, which will be grounded in evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches that support individual success and public safety.

What does community supervision look like when we move beyond compliance and build meaningful partnerships?

We’re proud to have SF Adult Probation’s Division Director Adella Martinez, DPO Nicole Caruso, and Legislative Affairs Manager Alek Hartwick joining this important conversation at the 14th Annual Reentry Conference & Expo.

The panel will bring together probation, parole, federal supervision, community partners, and people with lived experience to explore what works and how we can continue strengthening community supervision.

This summer, we had the privilege of hosting Ali, a 2L law student at USF School of Law, through our partnership with the SF Department of Police Accountability (DPA). 🎓⚖️

Internships like this matter. They give future professionals a firsthand look at public service and a deeper understanding of the many roles that make up our justice system.

For us, it’s especially meaningful to give future legal professionals an opportunity to see Adult Probation’s work up close, from supporting successful reentry to working alongside the courts and our community partners.

Ali brought curiosity, enthusiasm, and a genuine interest in learning throughout her time with us. We’re grateful to have been part of her journey and wish her continued success as she moves forward in her legal career! 👏

This summer, the San Francisco Adult Probation Department recognized two promotions and welcomed a new officer to the team.

Congratulations to SPO Habash and SPO Robinson on their promotion to Supervising Probation Officer, and welcome to DPO Leung, our newest Deputy Probation Officer.

Thank you for the work you do for this department and the communities we serve.

Last week we celebrated Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week, and no theme could fit this department better than Connected for Change: Building Bridges in Supervision. We asked our staff what they build bridges to, and their answers say everything. Connection. Opportunity. Second chances. Community.

In San Francisco, supervision isn’t about walls. It’s about bridges, and the officers and staff of the San Francisco Adult Probation Department build them every single day.

Thank you to everyone who made the week special, and to the professionals in this field everywhere who do the work with heart. The week is over. The work continues.

We asked our team to finish one sentence: “I build bridges to ______.”

Their answers are why we do this work. This PPPS Week, we’re proud to celebrate the officers and staff of the San Francisco Adult Probation Department who build bridges every single day between where someone has been and where they’re capable of going.

Connected for Change: Building Bridges in Supervision.

Building bridges is what we do. 🌉

Bridges to opportunity. Bridges to accountability. Bridges to second chances.

Thank you, Mayor Lurie, for recognizing the work of our officers and staff during Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week. This is Connected for Change in action.

White glove service for the people who serve our community every day. Yesterday we kicked off Pretrial, Probation and Parole Supervision Week by showing up for the staff who show up for San Francisco, with Director Mark Hudgins on serving duty.

Happy PPPS Week to our team.
