At Hamilton Families, we believe that investing in our staff is one of the best investments we can make for the families we serve.

Over the past several months, our Housing Services Team has partnered with Combs Consulting Co. for a series of professional development workshops focused on SMART goal setting, project management, conflict resolution, and other tools that strengthen how we work together and serve our community.

What makes this partnership especially meaningful is that Combs Consulting Co. founder Laura Combs is no stranger to Hamilton Families. Before launching her consulting practice, Laura served as a leader on our Housing Services Team, where she worked alongside staff supporting families experiencing housing insecurity and homelessness.

Because she's done this work herself, Laura understands both the challenges and the opportunities that come with supporting families experiencing homelessness. That perspective has made these workshops especially relevant and impactful for our team.

BIG shoutout to our long-time friends at the San Francisco Giants for helping create a special night for some of the dads in our programs! ⚾🧡

Last week, fathers from our programs headed out to Oracle Park thanks to donated tickets from the Giants. For a few hours, they got to do something many parents cherish: kick back and enjoy a ball game.

The fathers we serve work incredibly hard every single day. Between housing searches, case management appointments, work, school, and parenting, there isn't always a lot of time for fun. That's why opportunities like this matter.

We're grateful to the San Francisco Giants for continuing to show up for our community and for helping make experiences like these possible.

Over the next several months, Liam and Thomas will be supporting our Development and Leadership Teams as we work toward our mission of ending family homelessness in San Francisco.

We're excited to have them bring their talents, energy, and fresh perspectives to Hamilton Families while gaining firsthand experience in the nonprofit sector and learning more about the complex issue of family homelessness.

At Hamilton Families, we believe that ending family homelessness requires all of us—community members, partners, volunteers, donors, and emerging leaders—working together to create lasting change. We're grateful that Liam and Thomas have chosen to spend their summer with us and can't wait to see the impact they'll make.

Domestic violence is one of the leading drivers of family homelessness.

For many families, homelessness begins with an impossible choice: stay in an unsafe home or flee without knowing where they will sleep next.

That’s why we’re so grateful for our partnership with La Casa de las Madres. Yesterday, their team joined our case managers for a powerful domestic violence training to deepen our shared understanding of how to support survivors with safety, compassion, and dignity.

Through our long-time partnership, when La Casa de las Madres is working with a family actively fleeing domestic violence and facing homelessness, Hamilton Families can step in to help that family access safe, stable housing.

Ending family homelessness requires strong partnerships, survivor-centered care, and a community committed to safety for every parent and child. We’re proud to work alongside La Casa de las Madres in this critical work.

Announcing our newest member of the Hamilton Families Board of Directors, Suzi Alexander!

Ms. Alexander is a retired appellate attorney. For twenty years, Ms. Alexander led strategy for a national securities fraud class action practice, first-chairing legal teams from multiple law firms in appeals in federal circuit courts throughout the country and in the Supreme Court. Previously, Ms. Alexander represented individuals sentenced to death, bringing direct appeals to the California Supreme Court and collateral habeas petitions in the federal courts. In addition to serving on the Board of Hamilton Families, Ms. Alexander works with Larkin Street Youth Services and the San Francisco Marin Food Bank to help support individuals who are unhoused and/or food insecure. Ms. Alexander holds a BS from Stanford University and a JD from UCLA. She is married with three children and three grandchildren.

✨ Teen Room Glow-Up is Complete! 🙌

We are so excited to share the final transformation of the brand new Teen Room at our Transitional Housing Program! 🎉

What was once a basic common space has been reimagined into a warm, welcoming environment where teens can relax, connect with friends, focus on schoolwork, and simply be themselves - and just in time for summer! 😎

A huge thank you to our incredible partners at Canva for helping bring this vision to life. Throughout the project, their team rolled up their sleeves and joined us onsite to refresh the space with new paint, thoughtful design elements, and a trauma-informed approach that helps foster a sense of comfort, safety, and belonging. 🤝

At Hamilton Families, we know that environment matters. When young people have access to spaces that are inviting, supportive, and designed with their well-being in mind, they're better positioned to grow and thrive. 🌱
