next door, and frequent visits from his older half-sister. Today, he's been married for 10 years, has 2 kids, and a dog (Luna!). As an engineer, Michael has dedicated his life to solving problems. Rather than only addressing a problem’s symptoms, he tries to understand the cause in order to fix it. He will bring an engineering mentality to Congress - one that is not afraid to tackle the hard and politically uncomfortable problems. He will start addressing the big problems like reducing the threat of wildfires, increasing access to affordable healthcare, investing in education for kids and young adults that prepares them for meaningful careers, and ensuring everyone has an opportunity to find a job that pays a living wage. Michael’s values are rooted in Amador County and the relationships he’s made over the years. He believes in the value of human life and all of the differences that it takes on. Growing up in small town Amador County, he learned the importance of serving your community and looking out for your neighbors. He grew up clearing fallen trees and burning brush every summer; digging trenches and hauling firewood; volunteering to serve at the church’s annual crab feed fundraiser; and walking around Sutter Creek with his friends after school. His parents instilled in him the importance of hard work and dedication throughout his youth, lessons that he carries forward to this day. Brittany has taught him the strength that comes with empathy, understanding, and humility. His kids have taught him the importance of patience under stress. Finally, his time in Washington, DC has given him a greater appreciation for the diversity that this country has to offer, and the realization that we have more in common than we might think.

Voting is one of the few opportunities we all have to directly shape the future of our communities, our state, and our country. Every election is decided by the people who show up, and every vote helps ensure that the outcome reflects the will of the community.

If you’re tired of hearing “that’s just how it’s always been” when costs keep rising, problems go unsolved, and everyday people feel like they’re being left behind. Join us in standing up for real accountability, and leaders willing to challenge the status quo.

I began my campaign just under a year ago because I saw my community in need of leadership. I couldn't sit by for one more year while people like Tom McClintock rubber stamped an agenda that has led to crippling tariffs, reckless wars, wildfire disasters, and continuously keeps the people of CA5 struggling under the weight of an affordability crisis. I don't need to ask if people are better off today than they were last year. I know that most of us aren't, but I also know that we want more and we deserve more. That energy is what has fueled this campaign. I want to thank all of the volunteers who have given countless hours, phone banking, texting, door knocking, hosting meet and greets, and building a community of excitement that this District sorely needs. Thank you to my small but mighty campaign staff who work around the clock to strategize and execute a winning campaign to take down an entrenched do-nothing incumbent. And most importantly, thank you to my wife and my family for believing in me supporting me and doing the hard work at home while I'm on the campaign trail. I'm looking forward to watching the results rolling this evening with other candidates, supporters and friends at the NVLF watch party this evening!

Today, I took a break from canvassing to share a message that matters deeply to me: everyone deserves the freedom to live authentically, love who they love, and be treated with dignity and respect.

As your representative in Washington, I will stand up for LGBTQ+ rights, oppose discrimination in all its forms, and fight to ensure that every person is protected equally under the law.
Pride began as a movement for equality and justice. That work continues today, and I am committed to being a voice for inclusion, opportunity, and freedom for every member of our community.

And with Election Day tomorrow, I have one more message: Make Your Voice Heard.

If you haven’t turned in your ballot yet, please do so. Every vote matters, and together we can build a future that works for everyone.

Maybe being a rebel today means believing our communities deserve better than politics as usual.

Yesterday, I was honored to join supporters, friends, and neighbors at in Murphys for an incredible evening of conversation about the future of California’s 5th Congressional District.

People are tired of feeling ignored. They’re tired of watching small businesses struggle, families get squeezed by rising costs, veterans fight for the care they’ve earned, and communities get left behind while Washington keeps doing the same thing over and over.

If wanting accountability, practical solutions, and leadership that puts people before politics makes me a rebel, then I’ll gladly wear that title.

Thank you to everyone who came out, shared your stories, and continues to believe that real change is possible. This campaign has never been about me, it’s about the people of CA-5 and building a future that works for all of us.

Let’s keep pushing forward.

I am so proud to announce that Progressive Democrats of America has endorsed our campaign and is putting their support behind CA-05.

The hardworking families of our district deserve a representative who fights hard for them - to keep rural hospitals open, fund public schools, make insurance, healthcare and housing affordable, bring rural broadband access to our communities, and create local good-paying jobs.
