Politicians want you to think solving the affordability crisis is confusing and complicated.
News flash: Affordable housing is a social good that we need a lot more of to address this crisis. It comes in many forms, but all of them require significant financial subsidy to keep rents affordable.
It’s really that simple. We need smart public investment to build affordable housing and keep tenants in their homes.
Prop I, the Affordable Housing Guarantee Act, takes a portion of anexisting tax on office tower and mega mansion sales and dedicates it to building and preserving affordable housing, including co-ops, public housing, workforce housing, and 100% affordable senior and multi-family housing projects.
Don’t let Big Real Estate and politicians get you twisted with excuses – it’s a policy choice to invest at the scale we need. (The Mayor’s Office of Housing has said we $17B in public subsidy to meet the demand, but haven’t put forward a plan to address the crisis.)
Voters will get a chance in November to vote on a key part of a real plan to house teachers, bus drivers, artists, seniors and working families.
It’s not that complicated: Vote YES on Prop I this November 3rd!
