Gender equity requires coordination, accountability, and real investment. SFWPC supports Supervisor Myrna Melgar’s resolution calling for a Citywide Women’s Advancement and Gender Equity Action Plan to ensure San Francisco’s policies and budgets serve women, girls, and gender diverse communities.

We stand with Dolores Huerta — and with every survivor who has carried their truth in silence.
No legacy, no movement, no individual is above accountability. Believing survivors is not conditional, and it is not delayed. It is immediate. It is unwavering.
As a community, we have a responsibility to speak clearly: sexual violence is never justified, excused, or erased by history. The harm is real. The impact is lasting. And survivors deserve to be heard, supported, and believed — always.
We stand with Dolores. We stand with Ana, Esmeralda, Debra, and all who have come forward and those still finding their voice.

Thanks to everyone who joined our community meeting on The Future of Independent Commissions.
Protecting transparent, accountable local government takes all of us. Independent commissions are a vital part of safeguarding democracy through civilian oversight!

SFWPC stands in solidarity with the women subjected to reported mass strip searches in San Francisco County Jail while deputies recorded on body worn cameras.

No one should be degraded, humiliated, or retraumatized in custody. Many of these women are survivors of violence and are being held pretrial.

We call on the Board of Supervisors to ensure accountability, conduct an independent investigation, and set clear, enforceable limits on strip search practices.

San Francisco must uphold dignity and gender equity for everyone, including those in custody.

Have you ever experienced something on a night out that made you stop and question whether you were safe? Have you ever stayed quiet because you were not sure anyone would take you seriously?

Championing intersectional feminism means recognizing that safety is not experienced equally. Women of color and trans women face heightened risks in nightlife spaces. SFWPC is committed to advancing spaces that protect and uplift everyone, because safety and joy should and can exist together.

Join SFWPC in attending: Envision a Safe Night Out, hosted by the Night’s Watch, a SF-based nightlife advocacy organization working to challenge sexual and gender based violence through outreach, education, and advocacy.

This free community event will model the standards and care practices you might experience if a venue were trained by The Night’s Watch.
