🚨 Invasive Mosquitoes Detected in Los Gatos! 🚨
Dangerous and invasive, day-biting Aedes aegypti mosquitoes have been found in a new part of the county. These mosquitoes are spreading to more neighborhoods, meaning their numbers are growing.

They can spread diseases like dengue and Zika, which can cause serious illness. These diseases are not currently in our county, but risk increases as they spread.

• Email us photos of mosquitoes with black and white stripes (include where you were bitten or saw them: address or nearest cross streets).

🚨ALERT! 🦟Mosquitoes infected with West Nile virus have been detected in a portion of the county. To protect you and your family and lower the risk of a human infection, we have scheduled an adult-mosquito-control treatment to target mosquitoes that can spread the virus through their bite and may cause serious illness to people and certain animals.

🚨ALERT! 🦟Mosquitoes infected with West Nile virus have been detected in a portion of the county.
Treatment Details
General location: Town of Los Gatos and City of San José
ZIP Code(s): 95032, 95124
Date: Thursday, Sept. 24
Time: Starting at approximately 10 p.m. and lasting no more than 4 hours.
Treatment type: Adult-mosquito-control treatment using truck-mounted equipment.
To protect you and your family and lower the risk of a human infection, we have scheduled a mosquito treatment to target mosquitoes that can spread the virus through their bite and may cause serious illness to people and certain animals.
There is no need to relocate. If you want to limit exposure to the adult-mosquito-control treatment, you may close windows and stay indoors during the treatment. All pesticides used are evaluated and approved by the Environmental Protection Agency to ensure human and environmental safety.

The saxophones are getting louder 🎷....these unsuspecting containers used for road construction had standing water with hundreds of mosquito larvae. Small gaps in the lid can allow mosquitoes to lay their eggs in these containers. But don't worry, your local Santa Clara County Mosquito and Vector Control District is here to reduce the mosquito population. 👊🦟

Road construction equipment, or a perfect mosquito breeding spot? …It’s both 🫠🦟🚧
These K-rails along Eastside San José are filled with standing water, and where there’s standing water, mosquitoes like the aedes Aegypti can breed. 💧
To protect neighbors and reduce the mosquito population, our team checks them one by one, treating them on the spot to stop mosquitoes before they reach the flying and biting stage.
