Adelante II Dual Language Academy

Dear ARUSD Families and Staff,

This Monday, December 2nd, the Board of Trustees will meet to make their final decision on school closures. Throughout the process I have shared and outlined my recommendations to the Board of Trustees outlined in the ARUSD School Consolidation Report and Recommendations. I have also shared information regarding alternate proposals as they have been introduced. I want to share with you information about an additional proposal that will be presented on December 2nd, 2024 for Board Consideration.

Throughout the school closure process, the Board of Trustees, community members, and educational partners have expressed interest in alternate lists of school closures. As a result, Trustee Minh Pham, Board President Chavez, and I have co-developed a proposal for school closures that will be presented for board consideration on December 2nd. I want to again emphasize that the Board of Trustees will be making the final decision on which schools will close, which could include any school in the district.

Here are the key points of the co-developed proposal:

For 2025-2026:

Schools Open: Adelante I, Adelante II, Linda Vista, Lyndale, McCollam, Ocala, Renaissance at Mathson, Russo McEntee, Ryan, Sheppard
Schools Closed: Cassell, Cureton, Dorsa, George, Meyer
Schools Relocated: Renaissance at Fischer (Receiving School: Renaissance at Mathson)
Schools Redesigned: Aptitud (TK-5), Hubbard (TK-5), Chavez (TK-K)
Consolidated: LUCHA & Chavez to San Antonio, Painter consolidates into Sheppard and retains both the English Immersion and Vietnamese Dual Language Immersion Program.

For 2026-2027:

Schools Closed & Relocated: Adelante I & Adelante II (Receiving School Site: Renaissance at Fischer)

Additional information about this proposal will be shared at the December 2, 2024, Board Meeting, which will begin at 5:30 PM.

This decision is one of the most difficult we face as a district, but it is guided by our commitment to providing the best possible education for every student.
