The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office Custody Bureau has implemented a new electronic system for tracking those in custody at County jails with the help of Technology Services and Solutions, the County’s information technology department.

Incarcerated individuals wear wristbands that deputies scan with handheld devices. The radio-frequency identification system enables deputies to keep tabs on inmates as they move through a facility, conduct welfare checks, and more.

The system improves safety and efficiency, empowering deputies with instant access to information about people in custody.
