Big news: Participation in the CEPA Consumer and Environmental Protection Agency - County of Santa Clara household hazardous waste program has doubled since information about battery-sparked fires has reached the community. Thank you to all who are taking steps to protect your home and community!
Since April is Earth Month, let’s keep that energy going! The County is hosting a Household Hazardous Waste drop-off event this Saturday, April 25 in the City of Santa Clara that’s open to *all County residents.
What to bring: Batteries, paint, cleaners, pesticides, and more.

Don't know what to do with your old electronics📻, cleaning chemicals🧼, leftover paint🎨, batteries🪫, or other household hazardous waste (HHW)?
Safely dispose of your HHW for FREE through Santa Clara County's Household Hazardous Waste program! Cupertino residents can drop off HHW items at the Sunnyvale pop-up event on Saturday, April 18 or at any other upcoming pop-up events. Make an appointment at HHW.org or call (408)299-7300!
Please note that medications is no longer accepted at Santa Clara County HHW drop-offs. Visit med-project.org for disposal options.

🎉The final numbers are in, the event was huge! Over 700 appointments made and collected almost 50,000 lbs. of hazardous waste!😲 Thank you to everyone who participated and especially to the staff that helped make this event happen.

The free hazardous household waste event last weekend in Los Altos was a tremendous success! If you didn’t make it to this one, don’t worry, the Santa Clara County Household Hazardous Waste Program holds 11 events throughout the county during the year. You can also make appointments for free drop offs at the San José location every week. Get details at hhw.org.

There will be a free household hazardous waste drop-off event in Los Altos on Saturday, Feb. 28. The event is open to all Santa Clara County residents. This is a great time to properly dispose of old paint, motor oil, batteries, and more! Make an appointment with the Santa Clara County Household Hazardous Waste Program at hhw.org.
