Today is Bike to Wherever Day, a celebration of sustainable transportation, safer streets, and a more connected community. Whether you’re riding to work, school, or just for fun, every trip by bike helps make our city healthier and more accessible for everyone. I joined the VTA fueling station on the Guadalupe River Trail at River Oaks.

Just visited the new clubhouse for the San Jose Giants and it’s an incredible upgrade for a team that’s such a big part of this city.

They’ve been a fixture in San Jose for years, bringing the community together, and this new space shows they’re here to stay. The facilities are modern, spacious, and to MLB specs. The field is one of just two in the country to use the newest irrigation techniques.

Thanks to the San Jose Giants for being such an important part of the community and continuing to invest in our city.

A big thank you to the Youth Science Institute for kicking off our City Council meeting today with some incredible animal ambassadors. It was a great reminder of the important work they do connecting our community—especially young people—with the natural world.
If you’re looking for something fun and educational to do with the kids this summer, I highly recommend a visit to the Youth Science Institute. Their facility in Alum Rock Park is open to the public and offers a hands-on way to learn about local wildlife and ecosystems

Great to join the ribbon cutting celebrating the grand opening of the University of Silicon Valley’s new campus at the Cogswell Center in North San Jose. This new campus represents a meaningful investment in education, opportunity, and the future workforce of our region. It also includes an incubation center for new tech businesses in the creative software, graphics and animation spaces. Excited to see students walk through these doors and take the next step toward their goals.

We’re saddened to hear about the passing of Rod Diridon, a true visionary who helped shape the future of public transit in our community.

His leadership, dedication, and passion for sustainable transportation left a lasting legacy that will benefit generations to come. From championing rail expansion to inspiring collaboration across the region, his impact is felt every day.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. His vision and contributions will not be forgotten.

SAP Center crew makes the impossible look routine. From hosting the NCAA Tournament to quickly transforming the arena back into a pristine hockey rink, their work keeps everything running at the highest level. Huge credit to the team that keeps the ice ready and the show going for the San Jose Sharks and fans!

It’s been a long time coming, but the historic Sakauye Farmhouse has finally arrived at its new home in History Park. Carefully transported across town in two large sections, the house now stands alongside the Electric Light Tower and the Farmworkers’ Cabins—adding another meaningful piece to San José’s story.
It was an honor to be there for such an important moment, preserving and celebrating the history that helps shape our community today.

Today was San Jose Day of service. City employees rolled up their sleeves to volunteer all across the city. A group came out to clean up sections of Coyote Creek in North San Jose, and the impact was immediate. Thanks to everyone who showed up to take care of our shared spaces.

On Friday, we celebrated a collaboration that proves we can build out our infrastructure and support economic growth without sacrificing our environment. Thanks to PG&E and LS Power for working together to locate the new substation at the existing Metcalf site - protecting critical open space and natural flood plains. This plan preserves Coyote Valley while strengthening grid reliability for the future.

This weekend, families and neighbors gathered at the Berryessa Branch Library to celebrate Lunar New Year with performances, cultural activities, and community connection. It was wonderful to see residents of all ages come together to welcome the new year, honor traditions, and celebrate the rich cultural diversity that makes our community so special. Thank you to the library staff, performers, and volunteers who made this joyful celebration possible.
