The Housing Authority owns nearly 3,500 multi-family housing units in Santa Clara County, with 1,300 units in our development pipeline! This Affordable Housing Month, we shine a light on our work to grow our housing supply. This includes:

🏘️ Acquiring Las Golondrinas, a 50-unit senior development in East San Jose
🏘️Starting substantial work this year on the Willows, a 47-unit family community
🏘️Working with partners on exciting new housing opportunities, including the City of Sunnyvale and the Valley Transportation Authority
🏘️ Making significant progress on the East Santa Clara Master Plan, an urban village development.

For Affordable Housing Month, we hosted a fireside chat focused on our work to support families and develop affordable housing. Amid policy and funding changes at the federal level, the Housing Authority continues to focus on increasing the affordable housing supply, maximizing our voucher programs, and connecting our residents to services. With the launch of our new five-year strategic plan, our commitment to our residents remains our top priority. We look forward to continuing our work with local community organizations and leaders across all levels of government to meet the needs of our community.

California is at a critical moment in its budget process. Without sustained investment in affordable housing and homelessness programs, the state risks fewer homes, increased homelessness, and lost economic opportunity.

With previous bond funding depleted and new bond resources unavailable until at least 2027, General Fund investments are essential to meet immediate needs.

A coalition of over 100 organizations is urging the Legislature to invest at least $3.3 billion in these programs.

Now is the time to act. Contact Senate Budget Sub-4 members ahead of the April 30th hearing and make your voice heard: tinyurl.com/CAHousingBudget2026

On this Earth Day, we’re reflecting on our agency’s efforts to adopt and maintain more sustainable resources and practices. 🌎 We recently started partnering with Sunrun Solar, to install solar panels on our properties. On average, this partnership with Sunrun offsets at least 70% of residents’ monthly electricity costs. We’re now working towards implementing this technology across all SCCHA properties! Read more about our partnerships in this year’s impact report: www.scchousingauthority.org/impactreport2025

SCCHA has been a partner in Santa Clara County’s Community Plan to End Homelessness, working with stakeholders across our community to ensure more people can remain stably housed.

Together we have exceeded our goal of housing 20,000 people! That’s not just a number, it represents thousands of lives that have been changed for the better.

We are excited to support the work to create a new plan to ensure we continue to work together to end homelessness in our communities.
