The San José State University Police Department (UPD) is aware that our department phone number (408) 924-2222 has been spoofed (a form of digital deception where a scammer disguises their identity by imitating a trusted person, business, or device). The perpetrators falsely claim to be immigration officials and threaten deportation.

UPD does not enforce federal immigration laws, nor will our department contact individuals regarding immigration related investigations, enforcement actions, or requests for personal information related to immigration status. UPD is actively investigating to determine the source of these spoofed calls.

If you receive a suspicious call claiming to be from UPD, do not provide any personal or financial information. If you have concerns about the legitimacy of a call, please hang up and contact UPD directly.

During National Police Week, the San José State University Police Department attended the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office Peace Officers’ Memorial. We take this time to honor and remember the peace officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our community.

On Tuesday, May 05, 2026 about 5:16pm, UPD Officers responded to the Martin Luther King Jr. Library, located at 150 E. San Fernando Street, San Jose to meet with the parents of 20 year old, Arnav Singh. Mr. Singh was reported as a missing person at risk. UPD Officers conducted a lengthy investigation into the whereabouts of Mr. Singh. Multiple areas throughout San Jose were searched in the hopes of finding Mr. Singh, unfortunately he was not located. Mr. Singh was last seen wearing a brown shirt, black sweatpants and carrying a black Step Function backpack. Mr. Singh is described as 6’01”, weighing approximately 165lbs, with black hair and brown eyes. If you have any information regarding Mr. Singh’s whereabouts, please contact the San Jose State University Police Department at(408) 924-2222, or your local law enforcement agency.

UPD had a fantastic time celebrating Cinco de Mayo with San Jose State students and the talented Oro Azul mariachi band! It was a great opportunity to connect, share meaningful conversations, and strengthen engagement between campus and the community. Looking forward to more events like this!
