Most of you are probably not aware that Nitrous Oxide is being abused by our youth and young adults. It is sold in V**e / Smoke shops as well as ma*****na dispensaries.

It is illegal to sell for inhalation but yet it is sold in places that specialize in inhaled products. These facilities skirt the law by claiming they sell it for whipped cream dispensing.

This issue has been raised at city, county, and state level.

County Supervisor Cindy Chavez has also taken action and drafted a referral for the county supervisors to vote on. Her referral can be found here:

Stating that you support regulating the sale of nitrous oxide including prohibiting it being sold in smoke / v**e shops and dispensaries and it should be a legislative priority.

Repeated attempts to contact state Senator Dave Cortese disappointedly received little interest.

Assembly Evan Lows office promptly responded that they will review my proposed legislation.
