The San Jose, the Capital of the Silicon Valley, has always been known for its diversity and cultural crossroads. Historically, African Americans have forefront in civic works, education and technological development in the Silicon Valley. It is because of this cultural richness that created a need for a central location for cultural preservation in the Valley. The Cultural Center Project is a joi

nt venture between the African-American Community Services Agency, (A.A.C.S.A.) and the Antioch Housing and Economic Development Corporation, (A.H.E.D.C.), of Antioch Baptist Church. These two organizations have partnered to develop the only Cultural Center of its kind in the Silicon Valley. About AHEDC:
The Antioch Housing and Economic Development Corporation purpose is to identify and develop programs and projects that serve people with diverse needs such as affordable housing, education, healthcare services and youth/senior services. Alfred Smith Jr., the AHEDC's 501©3 was established as a community development corporation after its approval by its founding arm, Antioch Baptist Church in May 2004. The 501(c) (3) corporation is an umbrella faith-based corporation, directed by the Church. A feasibility study of the church membership was done and the surrounding community was canvassing to determine the need for the church to render community and/or economic development services to the African American community and the greater San Jose area. About AACSA:
The African American Community Service Agency (AACSA) was founded in 1978-is one of the only African American cultural centers in the Silicon Valley. Our mission-providing quality educational, cultural, social and recreational programs, services and activities in order to perpetuate and strengthen African American identity, culture, values, traditions, knowledge and family life-is at the heart of all programs. AACSA's membership is open to everyone, regardless of race, religion, age or disability. The Agency's diverse activities and services offer a natural gateway to African American life. For over 30 years, the African American Community Service Agency has served our community and provided programs and services that touch the lives of roughly 200,000 people every year. Starting with our youngest members and reaching out to seniors, there are activities, programs and special events as diverse as the people we serve. The African American Cultural Center of Silicon Valley is a dream nearly 30 years in the making. This center promises to be a beacon of culture, support, and empowerment for our community, offering affordable housing, a community theater, a museum, a gymnasium, childcare facilities, and more—all built with sustainable materials.

Thanks to the generous support of Congressman Ro Khanna, who announced a $5 million grant, and state Senator Dave Cortese with an additional $3 million, we are closer than ever to making this dream a reality. But we still have further to go, and we need your help to get there.
