The recreation, social services and outdoor spaces serve not only San Jose’s million plus residents, but individuals from surrounding cities and communities as well. Every May, Older Americans Month celebrates the contributions of older adults and reaffirms our commitment to serving them.

Yesterday, we received a commendation from Vice Mayor Foley, recognizing the work of our Older Adults Program. We’re proud to support older adults through recreation, nutrition programs, and community connections that help our residents stay active, engaged, and thriving.

Last week, we gathered at Starbird Park to celebrate the completion of exciting new park improvements with a ribbon-cutting ceremony!

The newly replaced playground features a castle theme designed to inspire imagination and active play. With towers, climbing elements, and interactive features, the space invites children to explore their own adventures. The Starbird Youth Center also got an update, with an entirely new bathroom to support the afterschool programs held on site.

We look forward to seeing the community enjoy these enhancements for years to come.

Thank you to Councilmember Rosemary Kamei for your support!
