Preparation to become an Officer involves more than just getting in shape. You have to study the academics, you must get familiar with tactics, land navigation skills, you have to get familiar and comfortable with weapon systems and start adopting fundamental concepts that will follow you for the rest of your life. Master the basics now so you can achieve excellence in the near future, and let this mindset flow to every aspect of your life. THAT is what makes Marines uniquely proficient πŸ˜‰

Huge thank you to our local Resevre unit for making this possible!

"Winter" FEX 2025! May this be the first in a long-standing tradition to take advantage of some winter backpacking in preparation for the Winter OCS course. Over the period of 24 hours, OST San Jose successfully completed a backpacking trip to grown accustomed to the cold environment around us and brush up on essential OCS skills to include: uniform wearing, hiking preparation, cold weather care, map work, 5-paragraph orders, and SULE evaluations.

No better way to prepare our candidates for the Winter OCS class! β„οΈπŸ”β›„οΈ

PSA: It's okay to be different. It's okay to go down a path most people would not even consider. The hardest and most challenging aspects in life are often the ones that are most rewarding.

I challenge everyone out there to step outside of your comfort zone. Try a new hobby, learn a new skill, do something that will challenge you and help you grow. πŸ…

No better way to start a Sunday than knocking out a motivational hike β›°οΈπŸ˜Ž
Training for OCS isn't just about training for a good PFT. There are many challenges that we can prepare for starting now, to include weighted hikes πŸ’ͺ

Earlier in April, our candidates got a glimpse of what they could expect at OCS. They learned about their own strengths and weaknesses. They learned of the value that comes with thriving under harsh conditions. But more importantly, they learned they were capable of much more than they imagined. Their performance and resilience was truly inspiring.

As we head into the summer, we wish our candidates attending the OCC-249 and PLC-Combined course the best. And we look forward to seeing our PLC-Junior candidates succeed 🫑

The title of Marine is not given, it is earned through the challenges they endure. The honor of leading Marines is forged through the trials and tribulations they face along their training and evaluation. The end result is a leader capable of thinking, communicating, and problem-solving under stress, built to succeed in any environment.

You think you have what it takes? Come find out!

People often ask what my favorite part is about my job. The location itself, the travel, the flexibility of the job, and the community engagement are great. But these are hands down, my my favorite moments.
Watching these young men and women go through the transformation from their initial visit, put in the work to train and prepare, and reach this pivotal moment in their journey.

Over this summer, 13 of our finest will be heading to OCS for evaluation. Each with their own background story, set of strengths, and drive to succeed πŸ’ͺ
Round of applause to these guys!! And we sincerely wish them the best as they prepare for the next step along this journey πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ‘
