1 in 5 experience mental health symptoms.

And many suffer in silence.

This doesn’t just affect moms—it impacts entire families.
You’re not weak. You’re not failing. You’re human.
So many moms are carrying more than they show—but support does exist.
From doulas to mental health support to community resources—help is available.

Let’s talk about it. Let’s support it. 💛

Systemic racism and structural inequity are root causes of why women of African Ancestry experience higher rates of negative birth outcomes. When we say that everyone deserves quality healthcare, that includes care that is free from bias and discrimination.

was created to raise awareness about how racism affects Black pregnant and postpartum women, and to highlight people and programs working towards solutions. To learn more about how our Public Health programs are addressing this issue, visit our webpages:

was created to raise awareness about racial disparities in birth outcomes. Across the country, including here in Santa Clara County, women of African Ancestry experience higher rates of negative birth outcomes compared to women from other racial and ethnic groups. That's why we have programs at Public Health designed to ensure that women of African Ancestry across their reproductive lifespan receive quality care that addresses their individual needs.
