Last week, we officially dedicated the San Antonio Mosaic as an Alum Rock Union School District Historical and Cultural Landmark! This ensures that this beautiful piece of our soul is preserved for generations to come.

The highlight of the ceremony? Hearing from Queta Herrera, who helped create the mosaic as an elementary student back in 1968.

Queta’s story is a reminder that the art our students create today becomes the legacy of our community tomorrow.

B-E-L-I-E-V-E it! Our annual District Spelling Bee was a total hive of talent this year. 🐝✨

We are incredibly proud of all our participants who stepped up to the mic, but a huge round of applause is in order for our top spellers who truly "spelled" out success! These students will move on to the County Spelling Bee this Saturday, March 7, 2026!

Our Parent University was a celebration of the intersection of Lunar New Year and Black History Month by centering our students and their stories and having opportunities for parents to work directly with their children. Thank you to all the families who were able to join us to make it such a great night. A thank you to our staff for also oganizing such a positive night!

Our Painter students went big this last Saturday, February 7th, at the VASC Santa Clara County Lunar New Year Celebration! We are so proud to celebrate Painter's 3rd year of participation in this beautiful community tradition.

These students didn't just get lucky—they earned their spot to the event through outstanding attendance in our afterschool program and dedication to their studies.

We are thrilled to have hosted the official dedication of the Senator Daniel A. McCorquodale Education Center. This ceremony marks the renaming of our District Office in honor of Senator McCorquodale’s lifelong commitment to public education, healthcare, and developmental disability advocacy. The event was emceed by former Supervisor Ken Yaeger and joined by a number of community members honoring the legacy of Senator Daniel A. McCorquodale.

Yesterday marked 100 days in session at ARUSD for the 25-26 school year! From the first bell in August to now, it’s been an amazing ride supporting our students and community.

This weekend, our middle schoolers left it all on the floor during the annual ARUSD Basketball Tournament. We are so proud to offer programs that teach life skills like discipline, teamwork, and resilience.

Rock the Court - ARUSD's Basketball tournament will take place January 23rd - 24th at the Overfelt High School Gym - 1835 Cunningham Ave.
- January 23rd games will start at 4:00 PM.
- January 24th and 25th games will start at 9:00 AM.

The finals will take place on Sunday, January 25th from 3 - 5 PM.

Playtime just got a major upgrade at Lyndale Elementary! 🛝✨

Last Friday we unveiled our brand-new Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten playground at Lyndale. This project has been a long time in the making, and seeing the smiles on our students' faces makes every bit of hard work worth it.

A huge thank you to the Alum Rock voters - this project was made possible by the voter-approved Measure I bond. Thank you for investing in our children’s future! 🗳️🙌
