04/17/2025

On October 16, 2020, at approximately 11:40 PM, a homicide occurred at a restaurant in the 100 block of South Capitol Avenue. Five victims were shot and two later died as a result of the attack. Armando Mendez Rivera was identified as one of the primary suspects and is believed to have fled to Mexico shortly thereafter. Rivera has an active warrant for murder, and an additional warrant for drug trafficking. He is believed to be armed and dangerous.

04/17/2025

On January 10, 2021, at approximately 2:29 AM, a homicide occurred in the 2300 block of Mammoth Drive. The victim was shot and did not survive. The suspect fled the scene. Oscar Soto was identified as the primary suspect and was arrested and charged with manslaughter. Soto posted bail soon after and is believed to have fled to Mexico. He is currently a fugitive with an active warrant for his arrest.

04/17/2025

On May 13, 2016, at 12:01 AM, a homicide occurred in the 1600 block of Story Road. The victim was stabbed inside a restaurant and died as a result of the attack. Marcos Martinez was later identified as the Suspect and a warrant was obtained for his arrest. Martinez has not been located and is believed to have fled to Mexico.

04/17/2025

On May 26, 2012, at approximately 11:56 PM, a gang-related homicide occurred in the 1600 Block of Virginia Avenue. Two victims were shot in the head and one died as a result of the attack. Jacob Haro and Miguel Marcelo were identified as the suspects. Haro was apprehended sometime after and was convicted of murder. Miguel Marcelo was believed to have fled to Mexico and has not been located. He is currently wanted for murder and is considered armed and dangerous.

12/04/2024

On September 10, 2021, at approximately 11:31 PM, Officers were dispatched to the area of Wi******er Boulevard and Cadillac Drive for multiple reports of a firearm discharge. When Officers arrived on scene, they located an adult female victim on the sidewalk and an adult male victim in the parking lot, who were each suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The female victim was later transported to a local hospital where her injuries were determined to be non-life threatening.

The male victim was non-responsive but was subsequently transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The suspects were unidentified at the time of the incident and fled prior to police arrival. Preliminary information revealed the incident to be gang motivated.

Detectives from the SJPD Homicide Unit responded to the scene and began a comprehensive investigation into the incident. Detectives later identified the primary suspects as Christopher Espinoza and Isaiah Sotelo and obtained warrants for their arrests.

On December 3, 2024, members from the SJPD Covert Response Unit (CRU) located and apprehended suspect Espinoza in the city of Hollister. He was subsequently booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for Murder.

Suspect Sotelo is currently outstanding and is believed to hiding in Mexico. A felony arrest warrant remains active for suspect Sotelo for the crime of Murder.

09/25/2024

On June 30, 1990, SJPD responded to a report of a missing person. It was discovered that the missing adult male got into a financial dispute with his roommate, John David Perkins. Homicide Detectives discovered that suspect Perkins beat the victim to death. Perkins was last seen driving the victim’s car after his disappearance. 09/25/2024

On January 1, 2015, SJPD responded to a report of a person shot at a bar located in the 1000 block of E. Capitol Expressway. Officers located two adult male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The investigation revealed that a fight had broken out at the bar, at which point a suspect, identified as Sai Hoang Le, produced a firearm and shot the two victims. On June 27, 2016, SJPD responded to a report of a person shot in the 1800 block of Cape Aston Court. An adult male suspect driving a black Lexus pulled in front of the adult male victim’s vehicle, got out and shot and killed the victim. The suspect was identified as Myung Jin Kim. On June 17, 2001, SJPD responded to a report of a stabbing in the area of Duane Street and S. Almaden Avenue. Officers discovered an adult male suffering from multiple stab wounds who was pronounced deceased on scene. The investigation revealed that a primary suspect jumped out of a vehicle driven by a secondary suspect, and stabbed the victim. The primary suspect was identified as Michael Que Heath. On April 4, 2023, SJPD Officers responded to a suspicious death of a two-month-old male infant boy at a local hospital. It was determined that the child died as a result of chronic abuse at the hands of his mother, Yuqi Yan. Suspect Yan has since fled the country and is believed to be in mainland China. 06/14/2024

On July 9, 2009, SJPD Officers responded to a homicide that occurred at a business located in the 300 block of North Capitol Avenue. A patron was shot and killed by a group of suspects who fled the area immediately before Officers arrived. One suspect was later arrested and charged with murder, but Suspect Kim Ngoc Tran is believed to have fled the country and is currently a fugitive. Investigators believe he may be hiding in Vietnam under a new identity. On April 13, 2021, SJPD Officers responded to the 2400 block of Dumont Circle and located a deceased male who had been shot. Raul Torres Salazar was identified as the suspect and a warrant was issued for his arrest charging him with murder. He is currently a fugitive and considered armed and dangerous.
