The African Flag-Raising Day ceremony was a beautiful event that brought together members of the African immigrant community, including prominent figures from the Ethiopian Community, to commemorate this momentous occasion.
The ceremony was honored by the presence of Mayor Matt Mahan, Vice Mayor Pam Foley, several Councilmembers, and civil rights leaders.
It was announced during the ceremony that the Month of May would be officially recognized as African Month.
Community leaders, including members of the Ethiopian Community Services Board of Directors, were given the opportunity to reflect on the significance of the event and share their remarks.
