What an amazing day at the Post-Secondary Special Olympics, hosted at the Plex in San Jose! From competitive games to skill-building drills, students from East Side, FUHSD, PAUSD, SCUSD, and SJUSD showed incredible heart on the basketball court. Thank you to the community for showing up and cheering loudly!

✨ March is Disability Awareness Month! As we wrap up our celebration, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to San Jose Public Library and the Santa Clara County Library District - SCCLD for partnering with North West SELPA to uplift and support our community. 💙

Thank you to Jenny Ponzuric for a successful and well-attended workshop on “Explaining Eligibility: The Why Behind the Decision.” Jenny made a complicated topic feel easy to understand and reminded us how important it is to clearly explain the “why” behind every decision we make for students and families. We’re excited to bring what we learned back to our teams!

Another successful session with Jenny Ponzuric today on Reporting Evaluation Results (and Not Just Test Results). Thank you to all the district staff and administrators who joined us for the session. Your involvement strengthens the impact of our collective efforts.

We had a fantastic time sharing our CAC journey from five SELPA CACs coming together as one at the Annual Alternative Dispute Resolution Conference in Riverside, California. A huge appreciation to all the participants who shared about their experiences, successes, and challenges. Your voices and collaboration continue to inspire this work.

Another successful Spring Bridging the Gap event in the books! Grateful to SARC, SCCOE, and our district teams for the meaningful discussions and collaboration supporting smooth transitions for students moving from Part C to Part B services. Thank you to California Early Childhood Special Education Network - Cal ECSE and High Quality IEPs for providing valuable resources to support this work.

Grateful for another productive NW SELPA Collaborative meeting this March. Thank you to our district special education leaders for the engaging conversations and shared problem-solving around key special education topics.

NW SELPA wrapped up its final CAC parent training of the year with Breaking the Anxiety Barrier.
