The National Weather Service has forecast an El Niño storm season that could bring heavy rain to San José. The City invites residents to attend a free storm preparedness workshop hosted by the City Manager’s Office of Emergency Management.

The virtual workshop will provide best practices to help residents prepare their homes and families ahead of the El Niño storm season. Residents are encouraged to register online to attend. Language interpretation will be provided in Spanish (Español), Vietnamese (Tiếng Việt), and Chinese (中文).

Residents will learn how to:
Sign up for emergency alerts.
Check if their home is in a flood zone.
Create an emergency plan and supply kit.

This past weekend, we celebrated 20 years of the Almaden Library and Community Center and enjoyed its annual Harvest Festival! 🎃🍂

For two decades, this wonderful facility has brought our community together by offering library resources, educational programs, recreation, fitness, and youth activities all under one roof.

I had a great time visiting the booths, connecting with so many of my residents, and even getting to check out the haunted house inside!

Thank you to everyone who helped make this celebration so special. Here’s to 20 years of learning, connection, and community and many more to come!

There’s something special about coming together as a team to make a difference in the community we call home.

Today, we joined more than 600 employees across San José for the city’s Day of Service! My team spent the day beautifying Chris Hotts Park and bringing new life and color to Cahalan Park by planting daffodils and painting a mural. 🌷🎨

Keeping our community clean, vibrant, and welcoming makes San José a better place for everyone! Thank you to all who participated!

Rancho Santa Teresa Neighborhood Association hosted its very first block party this past weekend!

This neighborhood holds a special place in my heart, it’s the area where I grew up. A little over a year ago, we helped get this neighborhood association started, and it’s incredible to see how much they’ve grown and how they’re now thriving.

This is what community is all about: bringing neighbors together, building connections, and creating a place where people feel proud to call home.

This past Saturday, I had the pleasure of attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Chris Hotts Park, celebrating the completion of the park’s long-awaited renovations.

I’m incredibly grateful for the time, dedication, and commitment that our neighbors, city staff, and community partners poured into this project. This vision would not have become a reality without the collective efforts and support of so many.

I hope our community enjoys this special space for years to come. Thank you again to everyone who helped bring this project to fruition. Cheers to this new milestone!
