From Jennifer Gagliardo:

Hello Friends!

On the large dog side, I am putting together a dog costume get together on Halloween! It will be between 5pm and 7pm. Bring your furry children to come celebrate Halloween. I will have small prizes for costume winners around 6/6:30pm. Parents, dress up too! Your costumes are also strongly encouraged. See you there!

From the DMDP:
Small dogs are welcome to dress up as well.

Del Monte Dog Park is not responsible for any judging and prize allocation. This is an event organized solely by attendees of the park. Please contact Jennifer Gagliardo for any additional information.

To clarify a common misconception, the park is not open 24/7. Official park hours in San Jose are from "dawn to sunset." When the restroom closes, you know the park is closed. For those of you asking why we close the restroom, we don't--the City does. So if your gripe is about you not being able to take a potty break when you visit the park because you're there when you're not supposed to be there, contact the City to provide that feedback. Again, this page is kept by a group of volunteers, not the City.

I, on behave of Del Monte Dog Park, would like to issue an apology to Mouse and his human for how they were unfairly treated today. Del Monte Dog Park welcomes all dogs, intact or not! If your dog has issues with or is aggressive toward intact male dogs, then it is your responsibility as a responsible dog owner to remove the aggressive dog and not to demand the removal of the intact dog. I am so sorry, Mouse, that you were ask to leave the park today for no reason. I hope you will return to the park.

We don’t know why or for how long the water will be shut off at the park this time. If you would like to communicate with the City about the status of the water being shut off at the park, three ways to contact Parks are attached. We also recommend copying District 6 staff ([email protected]).

Canine influenza signs posted at the park today. Please be cautious and keep your canine friend safe!

As a reminder, one person cannot bring in more than two dogs to the park at anytime, per San Jose Municipal Code 7.40.050(B)(4).

If you have a dog and take it outside of your own yard or home, you have an ***OBLIGATION*** to always have dog bags on your person. City dog parks do not exist as your dog's only dedication spot and those of us responsible enough to always have bags on us aren't here to share them with you. Exercise responsible pet ownership skills. Hold yourself accountable. Stop being lazy.
