Cal Poly CESAME is excited to announce the next installment of our popular “Why I Teach” Conversation Series! This event will feature Kyle Harmon, a local teacher at San Luis Obispo High School. Kyle teaches both science and AVID to 9th & 12th grade students.

This inspiring event is open to anyone interested in science, teaching, or simply hearing stories from local educators. Please join us on Wednesday, October 28th, in the Math & Science Building, room 38 - 123. Be sure to come hungry - free pizza will be provided for all attendees!

Did you know? Cal Poly students - you can get paid to do fun STEM experiments with elementary school students based on the novels they're reading in class!

Cal Poly CESAME is hiring Cal Poly students for Novel Engineering - another opportunity in our fall 2026 lineup - to work with local K - 8 students through creative problem-solving and hands-on design. All majors are welcome, and no engineering experience is required.

Looking for a way to get involved beyond the classroom this fall? Cal Poly CESAME is excited to announce our Fall 2026 student opportunity lineup, including the NEW Puppet Parade Project!

Cal Poly students can earn $18/hour while working with Pacheco Elementary students to build STEAM skills and help bring their ideas to life through puppet-making for the 2026 SLO Holiday Parade. It’s a great way to get involved and HAVE FUN working with kids!

Having trouble keeping track of time now that Poly Time has ended? Look no further than the Cotchett Education's iconic clock tower!

Built in 1942, the clock tower chimes every hour-on-the hour between 7am and 10pm and the sound is modeled after the bells of Westminster Abbey.

So, next time you think you might be running late for class and you're in the Dexter Lawn area, just look up - and if you hear the bells start to ring, it's time to get moving!
