First 5 California First 5 California provides families with educational resources to support children ages 0-5.

Since our creation in 1998, we've supported millions of families with programs and services designed to help more California kids grow up healthy and ready to succeed in school - and in life! The promise of First 5 California is to continue to invest in integrated programs and resources designed to benefit three target audiences: the Child, the Teacher, and the Parent. Current efforts focus on the areas of nutrition, early literacy and language development, and smoking cessation, among others. Wherever you live in California, a First 5 county commission is there to help you. These 58 county commissions fund local programs tailored to meet the needs of your family and community.

The “vampire method” may sound spooky 🧛, but it’s just a way of coughing or sneezing into your elbow—like a vampire pulling a cape over its face—to stop the spread of germs. Try teaching it to your child to keep everyone healthy.

These other tips can help too:
– Wash hands with soap and water for 20 seconds
– Stay hydrated to stop viruses from getting into the body
