Meet Ariana Vinh, a senior at California State University San Marcos studying Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance.

Ariana is passionate about the intersection of finance and marketing especially how creativity and analytics can work together to drive strategic decisions.

This summer, she gained hands-on experience in channel marketing through an internship with Watkins Wellness in Vista. She is also entering her second year as a Marketing and Social Media Student Assistant at the CSUSM Career Center, where she has developed digital campaigns, analyzed marketing performance and helped create initiatives that engage the campus community.

These experiences are helping Ariana shape her career goals and explore opportunities where finance and marketing meet.

What opportunities are taking shape across North County?

At this week’s SDNEDC Board Meeting, regional leaders explored North County’s growing green and blue economy, including research from MiraCosta College identifying at least 17 blue tech firms across six North County cities.
We also learned about National University’s The Nest Healthy Learning Center in Escondido, a new partnership-driven space bringing education and community resources together.

And we ended with a question for our Board: What changes are you noticing in North County that others may not yet see?
Bringing leaders together to observe, discuss and identify opportunities is at the heart of SDNEDC’s work.

Education → careers → a stronger North County.

90% of MiraCosta College graduates stay in the local area.
And in programs like biotechnology and nursing, students are seeing 90% placement rates even before graduation.

Benjamin Gamboa of MiraCosta College shared how partnerships with local employers help connect students with career opportunities and keep education aligned with the needs of our regional workforce.

It’s a great example of what happens when education, employers, and regional partners work together to grow North County’s talent pipeline.
