Sharing! Stay tuned to local information from Hays County Office of Emergency Services. Remember, flash flooding can cause extreme situations such as sweeping vehicles off of roads covered with water.

Chances for widespread rainfall which could lead to flash flooding increase mid to late week, particularly during the Wednesday night to Friday morning timeframe, as a slow moving cold front moves across the area. Continue to monitor the forecast this week and make sure you have multiple ways to receive warning information.

As we're celebrating National CERT Week (September 20-26), we want to remind our Hays County community about our absolutely wonderful CERT volunteers. These are the folks, usually in chartreuse shirts, you see out and about - seems like once a week! We could not do what we do without their dedication and service.

These folks go through hours of training and become ready to help at the drop of hat.

So THANK YOU to our more than 300 Hays County CERT members. We deeply appreciate your commitment to helping build a more resilient community!
