Hello Leland students,

We are closed November 10th for the holiday. So no classes on November 10th.

In addition, currently, Saturdays we offer 11am intro chess and 1pm intro Ping Pong (both free and ongoing). We are open Saturdays and I am generally here (if I am not here another staff member will be here).

Also, starting November 25th, I will offer free Saturday Running / conditioning classes at 2pm.

I will not be here Saturday, December 2nd and Saturday December 30th so no Running, chess or ping pong those 2 days. However we will have other staff here if you want to come for basketball (check out a ball), enroll in spring classes (enroll Nov 11th or later) or ask questions. I will be here every other Saturday and will give you a heads up to any changes in the schedule / class schedule.

January 8th our spring classes start which may or may not affect the free classes on Saturdays we are offering. I will keep you posted on any updates.

P.S. Other closed days this year due to holidays: November 23, 24 and December 25th.

Just happened at Leland. Two men in their early 20’s trying to break into the park building today. Broke the lock with tools. LAPD came. Rec and park came. LAPD cuffed and detained them on vagrancy charges. One was on probation.

Be safe and lock your cars. Don’t give criminals an easy target in our neighborhood.

Hopefully, everyone in the Leland park neighborhood has been doing well despite the past years challenges. As we start to open up activities in San Pedro, Leland Park will be a part of the opening too.

We will have youth sports clinics at the park in the afternoon.

We are partnering with Peck park in activities for kids during the summer months. The main summer camp will be at peck park and the afternoon sports clinics will be at Leland.

I should have some flyers soon and if you’re ready for your kids to get back to being outdoors and active, this should be a good program. All the regular park activities will be offered. Just in smaller pods and with social distancing and masks.
