Reminder: Election Night is NOT Results Night.
Counting and verifying ballots takes time. Election security and accuracy are top priorities which require time and attention to election law and trusted procedures.
We've never had certified winners on the night of an election. Media outlets and pollsters may make *projections* (based on unofficial results and other info), but only election officials can certify an outcome and that happens much later to allow time for full vote counts, possible recounts, and any legitimate legal challenges that may arise.
