Let's talk about something hard: domestic violence.

There's a lot of misinformation out there. You might have heard some of the more common myths, like “victims can just walk away” or “it only happens in poor or uneducated homes.”

The truth is that there are many reasons a victim may not be able to leave a relationship, and domestic violence occurs at every socioeconomic level.

You can help our community by learning the truth about domestic violence and challenging misconceptions.

We're expecting rain again this weekend! Sandbags are available to help prevent flooding.

Update (10/10 at 3:25 p.m.): Last sand has been delivered, bring your own sandbags. This is all the city plans on delivering. We will continue to monitor the storm and how the city will support.

Update (10/10 at 12:40 p.m.): We are delivering more sand, but people need to start bringing their own sand bags. You can purchase these at local hardware stores.

Update (10/9 at 7:40 p.m.):

The city is monitoring the sand and bag supplies and replenishing as needed. More was dropped off today and we will have more dropped off tomorrow (Saturday) morning. Please only get what you need for this storm.

With rain in the forecast, Sandy City Public Works crews are preparing and monitoring conditions throughout the city.

Sand and empty sandbags will be available for residents at 𝟵𝟴𝟬𝟬 𝗦. 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲. Residents who may be concerned about potential flooding are welcome to stop by and fill sandbags as needed.

Sandy Public Works crews are also inspecting storm drains, inlets, and drainage channels and will continue monitoring the forecast and conditions throughout the storm.

Please use caution during periods of heavy rain and avoid flooded roadways or areas with moving water.

🚧 1300 East Road Construction Update 🚧
We know construction and traffic impacts in this area have been frustrating, and we appreciate your patience.

Crews have been working both during the day and at night, with most road closures scheduled overnight to reduce impacts on daytime traffic. This week, however, some work needed to happen during the day. Crews had to raise manhole covers and pour fresh concrete, which required warmer daytime temperatures to properly set.
The City’s portion of the work is expected to wrap up by the end of this week.

Construction associated with the Smith’s project will continue, including work on the new fuel station and installation of a new traffic signal. The overall project is scheduled for completion in November.

Please consider using alternate routes when possible, allow extra travel time and use caution around crews and construction zones. Thank you for your patience while this work is completed.

Today we unveiled a new chipping green dedicated to former Sandy City Parks & Recreation director and Sandy City Council member Scott Earl, in honor of his 35 years of service to the Sandy community. His impact on creating beautiful park spaces and protecting open space in Sandy will be felt for decades to come, and we hope this space on our course will serve as a symbol of that lasting legacy.
You can find the chipping green to the east of the north driving range.
