⚡🔋 PROCLAIMING FIRE PREVENTION WEEK IN SANFORD! 🚒✨
At the September 28th City Commission meeting, Mayor Art Woodruff officially proclaimed October 4–10, 2026, as Fire Prevention Week in the City of Sanford!
This year’s national campaign theme is "Charge Into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower."
With so many lithium-ion battery-powered devices in our homes—like smartphones, tablets, e-bikes, and power tools—practicing safe charging habits is essential to preventing fires.
🔋 Essential Battery Safety Tips:
🔌 Use approved equipment: Always use manufacturer-certified chargers and cords.
🔌 Avoid overloading: Plug chargers directly into wall outlets rather than daisy-chaining power strips. 🔌 Keep it clear: Charge devices on hard, flat surfaces away from flammable materials like beds, couches, or curtains.
🔌 Unplug when done: Don't leave devices charging unattended or overnight.
Thank you to our Sanford Fire Department first responders for working every day to keep our community safe and informed!
