Over the course of the last several weeks, we’ve had five burglaries of motor vehicles occur in Sanger. That is a significant increase for our town. The culprits are looking in vehicles for valuables that have been left inside the vehicles. These crimes happen at all hours of the day and in different areas around town. While we are working to catch the thieves and stop the crimes from happening, please remember the motto, "Take, Lock, Hide" when it comes to leaving items in your vehicles. The core principles are:

The 3 Core Principles
• Hide your things: Never leave valuables like purses, laptops, or shopping bags in plain sight. Always secure them in the trunk or cover them up completely before arriving at your destination.
• Lock your car: Ensure all doors and windows are securely locked every time you park, even when in your own driveway.
• Take your keys: Never leave your keys, key fobs, or spare keys inside the vehicle. This allows thieves to simply drive your car away.

Help us reduce the chance of you becoming a victim of a crime that is easily preventable.

"Thank you to the Sanger Public Library for allowing me to come read to the kids. It’s always an honor to be asked, and the officers enjoy spending time with them. The kids make it so much fun to be there and watch them as they listen intently to the story, and then afterward go to enjoy crawling through our patrol vehicles. Until next time, stay safe and be well!" -- Chief Cheek

"Memorial Day is not a celebration, but a time of solemn remembrance—a day to honor the men and women of the Armed Forces who gave their lives in service to our nation. It is a powerful reminder of the cost of freedom and the sacrifices made to preserve it. Please take a moment to reflect on those who came before us, who stood in harm’s way so that we might live in peace."

"It was a tremendous honor to represent the Sanger Police Department at the Touch-A-Truck event. I especially enjoyed all the kid's excitement as they hopped in a Sanger Police car. They looked at all the radios, pushed some buttons, enjoyed the emergency lights, and for reasons unknown, wanted to venture into the back seat area where we transport those in need and some who really don't want to be back there. The parents, plus their kids, made this a memorable occasion." -- Officer Morton

Today is National Peace Officers' Memorial Day! We pause to honor and remember the brave men and women in law enforcement who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. It is also a time to reflect on the courage it takes to wear the badge and the weight carried by those who serve. We stand with the families of the fallen, our fellow officers, and communities across the nation in solemn remembrance.

Please join us in honoring the men and women who risk their lives every day to keep Sanger safe. This is National Police Week. It is celebrated during the week of May 15th and falls in under President Kennedy’s decree to honor the men and women who risk their lives every day in the line of duty. It is also a time for police officers to honor their fallen colleagues, make sure those surviving them are supported, as well as to remember their commitment to keeping people safe. National Police Week is all about honor, gratitude, remembrance, servitude, and peer support.

We would like to thank B&O Towing for stopping by today and bringing us 12 cases of water and 2 trays of desserts. We appreciate your support.
