Part 3️⃣: The sweet woman with the dying husband

Meeting my client at 6:00 am paid off, she was able to get to the Los Angeles Consulate by 9:00 am, in time to get in, get her paperwork reviewed, approved and submitted for processing 🙌🏽

I am just as relieved as she is!

I am happy to have been instrumental in taking one very stressful thing off of her overloaded plate.

Today I had a signing at the hospital where I met with a sweet sweet woman and her husband, who was given just 3 months to live 😢 the ugly disease cancer is robbing him of his life! She had so many emotions consuming her that she just needed to let them all out. I sat with her and listened as she went from being angry to stressed to confused, to worried and then sadness. As tears filled her eyes she instantly paused and looked me eye to eye and said “I can’t cry anymore, I have no more tears from all of the crying I have done” 😭 My heart ached for her! I wished I had the right words to say…I wanted to hug her but I didn’t know her or how she would have reacted, so I just held her hand and tried to reassure her that everything she was feeling was normal.

She said that she didn’t recognize her husband anymore because he wasn’t the man she married, he is now angry and demanding. They’re both in their early 70’s, in great shape and here he is literally waiting to die while she sits with him in his hospital room waiting and wondering when it will be his last day. How awfully sad 😞

I pray that his last days will be filled with family, love, reminiscing about the great things he’s done but most of all I pray for peace for him, his wife and children.

As I gathered my stuff to leave she thanked me for listening to her and asked if she could call me sometime 🥹 I said “of course you can” and handed her my business card. I left there feeling many emotions. I believe God connected me with her, and it felt amazing that she felt safe and comfortable enough to release some of her overwhelming emotions and fears in that moment, with me. I’m thankful he chose me for her 🙏🏽

Being a notary is not just about being a notary for me. I’m so grateful for moments like these!

At my notary appointment today, watching two elderly women literally beating on each other was a little disturbing. I thought about what caused such anger. I know that fear often leads to anger and I can understand why they would be fearful.

As our parents grow older, they face many challenges and changes in their lives, which can be tough for them. Transitioning to a senior community or care facility can be a daunting and fearful experience. Imagine being in a place where everything feels strange, from the surroundings to the people around you to your daily routine. This sudden change can lead to feelings of fear and uncertainty, especially when it involves giving up some freedoms or self sufficiency. They might worry about the food choices, the daily schedule, or even sharing a room with someone they don’t know. What a scary time for them!

It’s important to remember that this new chapter in their lives is not just about moving; it is giving up everything that gave them comfort and even more difficult to adjust to is giving up their independence. By showing patience, understanding and compassion during this time, we can help ease their concerns and make this transition smoother for them. It’s about helping them feel safe, supported and loved.

One day.. all we have is memories of them.

Well this is a first for me

Today’s motivation!

An elderly man slowly but steadily circling the track with joy and a visible smile of accomplishment on his face

A physically challenged young man, determined to kick that ball! His expression of joy and pride reminded me of how important it is to NEVER give in or give up.

Simply precious to witness these two in action.
