STUDY OF MURDER STUDENTS - THE MOSCOW, IDAHO MURDERS
While little is known about this case, there has certainly been a lot of "expert" speculation. Let me add my 2 cents worth.
The police have said that this was a targeted killing but haven't said why they believe this. Murder can be broken down by intent in two ways - ACT-FOCUSED and PROCESS-FOCUSED. An act-focused murder is one where the offender commits just enough violence to ensure the death of the victim. The victim is shot, or stabbed, or strangled but just enough to kill. A process-focused killing involves more of the offender's fantasy. There might be evidence of torture, body mutilation, piquerism, etc beyond that which is necessary to merely end the victim's life.
In the Moscow, Idaho case I would be interested in knowing which victim suffered an act-focused killing and which, if any, suffered a processed-focused death. That victim is where I would focus my investigative efforts as that, in my opinion, was the target of the attack. The others were mere impediments to be gotten rid of.

STUDY OF MURDER STUDENTS
This is an interesting case, not only because it involves a juvenile suspect, but because of the modus operandi (m.o.). In this case, the offender strangled the victim to death BEFORE sexually assaulting her. Can you think of other, high-profile, serial offenders who murdered their victims before sexually assaulting their bodies?
